Factoryscape (QA03)

Part of a series of non-Permutation abstracts on paper, created entirely during a 4 week quarantine moving from Binh Duong to Da Nang in Vietnam. For most of these pieces, I found images and symbols, some intentional but mostly accidental, and titled them according to what I discovered.

This piece really reminded me of an industrial area late at night, spewing toxic red fumes and oozing an acid green liquid. When I was in high school, my very first relationship was with a boy who lived in the next state over from me, Indiana, and there were many late-night drives through a huge industrial area that used to be a thriving steelworks. Despite intellectually knowing how bad for the environment they were (sitting on the edge of Lake Michigan), I always found those areas eerily beautiful.

For some context, feel free to check out this post on my Buy Me a Coffee site, where I recount our whole ordeal.
