This image was taken from the France volume of the Life World Library encyclopedia book which I found at a tiny book stall in Chennai, India. The scene is described as an "art party," in the context of France's modern art history movement. The Permutation in this piece is upside down (something that I rarely do), because I wanted to make use of the mostly empty negative space in the top right. The figures in the photograph are so interesting, I really didn't want to cover them.
